l'm going to Italy next year

l'm going to Italy next year?
Two of my friends and I are going with school to Italy for ten days next year. I'm trying to learn fluent Italian (it's actually coming along really well!). I want to know the best restaurants in: Venice, Florence, Orvieto, Capri, Rome, the Vatican area, and Sorrento. We want to go somewhere that isn't crowded with tourists but isn't hard to access from the main streets of the city, and is safe for three sixteen year old girls to be going, maybe with a couple of other people. What would you recomend. Oh, and where would you go shopping. Nothing too expensive, but good quality. Thanks so much!! Yikes, typo in the title. I meant I'm I love being overly prepared SERIOUSLY!

In Rome shopping is no prob. If you go to local markets you'll find what you're looking for. My school senior trip is hopefully to Rome too! I hope the proposal is accepted I'm really exited. They always go to florida or upstate NY so It would be nice to see a change PS. Relax you have time!

You will be surprised how easy it is to get around, if you know French or Spanish....but it doesn't hurt to know Italian. Most signs have several languages posted....you will be fine there. I enjoy eating where the locals eat...however ...I do not recommend that two sixteen year olds go wandering in the cities....Americans do not have the best of reputations...there. In fact I would recommend you stay with your group...please. You can still enjoy yourself..there is so much to do... Most cities have a market for shopping....and it is alright to bargain....but be respectful...don't expect something for nothing...that is an insult. Oh...watch for "knock offs"....you will find people selling Prada knock offs on the street corner...do not buy them...they will be taken from you at customs...and you could be fined...

To eat, if you're learning italian, give a look to the wilki 2spaghi where u can find restaurants of all kind, rated by customers and updated. Shopping in Capri, Venice and Sorrento could be very expansive. Rome give a lots of opportunity .... for every budget and near or along the main streets ... Have a nice time in Italy!

Where can I work if I want to speak some Italian

Where can I work if I want to speak some Italian?
I just got back from going to school in Italy for 4 months but I'm now jobless and looking. If I could have it my way, I would love to work somewhere where Italian is known/spoken in the Nassau County, Long Island area. Does anyone have any suggestions??

What is the easiest and cheapest way to get to Rome, Italy

What is the easiest and cheapest way to get to Rome, Italy?
A friend and I are looking to spend the summer between high school and college WWOOFing in Italy. I've looked into everything and the only hangup is how to get there. Is flying directly to Rome best, or would flying to London or Paris and then hopping a train/renting a car and driving be the less expensive?

The way flights work these days, most likely flying to any other capital or main city in Europe with a connecting flight. Use comparison sites like Skyscanner or Kayak, (google will find them and others for you) and see for yourself. Often it is cheaper to fly on with a local flight than to fly direct. A flight to Rome via London will be about the same as a flight to London via Rome, while direct flights to either London or Rome will be more expensive. I took London as example, but it works the same for almost every city in Europe now. Renting a car will never be the cheap option, first of all, at the age you are before going to college you will be too young to rent a car from any but the most expensive companies, if them. Petrol/gas is very expensive and rental prices are several times as high as in the USA. On top that will come an international drop off charge which can be as high as your intercontinental flight, not the cheap option. Train travel is much cheaper and if you can find a flight that is very cheap to an other Italian airport it can be an option, but when you talk about international train travel in Europe, you talk about amounts of money that are bigger than most plane tickets within Europe. So a connecting flight is likely, a direct flight your second option. If you can not find anything on internet, walk in with your local travel agency. I know mine always saves me money on long distance travel, even though I know where to search for the tickets. She is so much better at it.

I would definitely say aovid trying to rent a car. I drive regularly from the UK down to Italy and it's not a journey I would do for pleasure. Also, the price of petrol at the moment is very expensive in Europe generally - around €1.20 per litre - and tolls right the way down also add to the cost. And that's before you talk about the cost of renting. The cost we allow ourselves of driving down from the UK to Rome, including petrol and tolls but not including rental or ferry, is around £400 or $650. It won't be much less from Paris. Trains in mainland Europe (i.e. from France to Italy for example) are very efficient but not cheap. Paris to Rome takes about fifteen hours and is an overnight train (the Artesia). At the moment the cost is around €180 or $260. Try looking at prices from wherever you live to London or Paris, and then looking at Ryanair from there to Rome. Ryanair are a budget airline within Europe. Their flights are very cheap - I have just come back from flying UK to Rome and it cost me £15 return - about $50, including all taxes. At the moment fares from Paris to Rome are showing at about $25 single trip including taxes. Their website is http://www.ryanair.com - don't expect a luxurious airline though - you get what you pay for. Enjoy your time in Europe - however you get there.

should i study veterinary medicine for a year in italy

should i study veterinary medicine for a year in italy?
Hi! i'm a senior in a high school in Arizona, and i know its early to think of this, but i really would like to do a study abroad program during one of my college years to go Italy for a semester or a year :) I want to study veterinary medicine in college. I really want to experience a new culture, and I've grown an interest in Italy, plus I love the Italian language. How are the science schools in italy? Is it worth doing it there, or do you suggest other countries that are better in the sciences for studying abroad? I'm fluent in spanish(native) and english, and i love learning new languages so that wont be a problem. thanks :)

You would not be able to study vet medicine in Italy, In America that is actually a graduate program, so for your undergrad you are not studying vet medicine anyway, and they would not be teaching veterinary medicine in English there, you would have to score very high in the Italian placement test. Most veterinary graduate programs do not allow study broad, just to let you know. So you can go during your undergraduate study.
