On the island of Gigli in Tuscany there are wild goats called mufloni. This kind of goat is very endangered. There is a large rare butterfly called the Parnassus Apollo. Its wings are almost transparent, with spots edged in black and red. It is a protected insect because it is endangered. In the Pollino National Park in Calabria, there are the rare Royal eagle and the Capriol deer.

Where can I go in Italy to study old-school Catholic liturgical MUSIC

Where can I go in Italy to study old-school Catholic liturgical MUSIC?
Hi, I'm a youngish professional musician working in the Catholic Church. I have two music degrees from reputable conservatories, but I am looking to get some real hands-on experience with the great liturgical tradition of chant and sacred music in the Catholic Church. Aside from one or two specialized university programs, there doen't seem to be much along those lines here in the states. Anway, I have some money saved up and am looking to go to Italy or the Vatican City to experience and study this great art first-hand. Can anyone recommend a possible jumping off point in terms of Univsersities or Institutions where I might be able to participate in and/or study this great tradition? I was hoping that the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music would be the place to start, but most of their website is in Italian and doesn't seem to have been updated since 2007. By the way, my Italian is functional, and I would certainly work to improve it if I were going over there. Thanks- Pax Christi!!

I'm looking for research ideas involving Italy and China

I'm looking for research ideas involving Italy and China?
I am a college student that is looking for ideas for a multicultural research project to conduct in both Rome and Bejing, China. If I can come up with a good project, I might be able to get my trip to Rome and Bejing paid for. The project can be basically anything I want to research as long as it involves both cultures, since my school has campuses in both Italy and China. I'm wondering if anyone has any insight into contemporary issues facing both countries, in politics or religion or anything, I willing to research just about anything. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Marco Polo?

relate the origins of both countries deep rooted religions. catholicism vs. idolatry or something.

This is not so much contemporary but, it lays the basis for any connection between the two countries. You could try the foods, art, and clothing after time that Marco Polo visited China. The development of similarities or parallels through time after his visits. If you want contemporary, you could compare how Roman empire was at its beginning compares to how China is becoming a world economic power today and effects on the people, environment, culture, and the rest of the world.

For Italy. They took some local politicans and told them they were going to be interviewed for something. So the makeup people cleaned up their face, whiped their mouth and what not, and then took them to the interview. Then tests were done on the tissues used to clean the mouths of the politicians and it turns out 32% had trace amounts of illegal drugs in their saliva meaning they had smoked pot or taken coke in the last 8 days. These finds are trying to be covered up. For China. It is not the US who is paying for the war in Iraq, it's China, the US is up to their eyeballs finacially to China. That is how they will take over.

Hi, Why not "Tourism"? Both countries has this as a big industry. You could find more searching the internet. Here is a site you could start reading for Italy: http://www.italyexposed.com/index.shtml Check the index part at the right side, there are many different cathegories. I wish you good luck with your project and hope you will have a nice travel to both countries!
