No, I can't tell you this.

In my opinion the FDA is a good choice. Additionally the teaching is in english. This is not usual in Italy. If you are an international student this is perfect. Also the italian and florentine culture can influence you positivly, especially for the incredible interior architecture in Florence.

How does one from the U.S. go to Medical School abroad

How does one from the U.S. go to Medical School abroad?
I am considering studying abroad (Italy) for Medical School. Does anybody study abroad? Is anyone thinking about it? Has anyone done it? What's the attitude towards foreigners in European schools? Any feedback is appreciated!!

I am a European my country is small but our medical university's doctors are appreciated all over Europe. we have foreign students and they are treated the same as us.
2 :
Studying abroad is a great idea. But I wouldn't recommend you a Medical School because of the following reasons: It will be extremely difficult if not impossible to get your degree acknowledged in the U.S. after the completion of your studies. Medical studies are organized very differently in Europe. It will be hard for you to comply with the entry requirements. (American High School won't be good enough). Medical Schools are typically in local language. If you do not speak the local language very well you will have a realy hard time. So I would consider other subjects.

how to get food from Italy

how to get food from Italy?
I went to Italy with a school group and we all fell in love with the orange fanta that was there. when we came back a girls mom found a website where you could buy that drink and other italy foods from that would deliver to the u.s. i would like to order again and im drawing a blank on the website. does anyone know of it?

You can purchase Orange fanta in the ethnic grocery stores or market.
2 :
I don't know if this is the site she found, but try: http://www.italianfoodimports.com/ Be aware that quite a few of the items they list can be bought a Trader Joes and even in the ethnic section of large supermarkets. If that isn't it, google italian food import sellers or italian food import dealers.
3 :
ebay has all kinds of stuff like that...i've ordered stuff that you normally can only find in the uk and australia...i'm sure people are selling italian products.
4 :
Many times you can find Fanta in the mexican section or many stores do carry it. Fanta is not from Italy. The original Fanta comes in a glass bottle but the US coca cola also has a fanta, you might consider looking into the link ? http://www.fanta.com/ Just look at stores that carry International foods you will find it.

How much would it cost to take a low budget three week trip to Italy and Spain?
I would like to take a three week trip to Italy and Spain when I finish law school. I would be flying out of San Francisco. I am not afraid to do a "low budget" trip, staying in hostels, etc. How much should I budget?
Other - Europe - 2 Answers

I don't really know. But if you want to save money stay in hostels (that is if you are young enough to, usually under 30).
2 :
I was planning a similar trip with a friend of mine. If you are willing to stay in hostels and are getting around via eurail, it would cost most likely somewhere in the neighborhood of $2800-3200, based on about $900 for air, $400 for a eurail pass, about $25 per night in hostels times 20 nights which is $500, meals of about $20 per day for another $500, plus about $500 for miscellaneous expenses. If nothing else, the Euro is absolutely plummeting, so you'll save some money there.

is there a job where i can learn how to ride horses in italy

is there a job where i can learn how to ride horses in italy?
I want to find a way to learn how to ride horses (as in going on long trails, and ride them really fast). is there a job i could have where i can learn how to do that at the same time as riding horses? i plan on traveling to Italy after school ends, and i dont care about making alot of money, i just want to make enough to be able to travel more if i decide i want to, and to have a place to stay and eat. and if there is a job like this or close to this, where would i go to do it? thanks

Yeah you can... Try researching Equestrian Jobs. You can also see if there are any jobs available over there for horse camps. Also try horse racing jobs... I hoped i helped.. :)
2 :
There are some equestrian centers here in various places, but not a huge number. The problem is that it would be illegal for you to work here coming from the US unless you have a visa that allows you to work. EU citizens have the right to live and work freely within the EU, others cannot automatically live and work here. The site for visas here in Italy is: http://www.esteri.it/visti/index_eng.asp . The site has links to the application, the additional information you need to supply in order to get the visa and where to apply. A work permit is separate - you cannot apply for that yourself. The company has to apply and they have to be able to demonstrate that there is not a viable EU candidate for the job. As a result, jobs for foreigners including Canadian or US citizens are pretty much restricted to people with special education, knowledge, or experience ... and you would have to be able to speak the local language. The type of work you're looking for is unlikely since there will be tons of European candidates for those positions and unemployment is high here right now. If you were Canadian, you could look into a working holiday visa, but those are not available to US citizens.

However, compulsory education is up to the second year of high school or when the boy is 16 years old. the end of these 5 years there was another examination of the "mature". when you graduated (5 years of high school) you can choose to go to university sorry for my English ciao ciao!

How can I approach to an Italian kid visiting my school

How can I approach to an Italian kid visiting my school?
Just to give out notes: I'm a 14-year-old American girl, I live in Italy,my school starts in tomorrow, and I'll be a freshman. My school will be inviting Italian teens from Italian schools this year because they have done it last year. Sometimes in the month the students who wish to visit an Italian school will visit their and the students who wished to become a tour guider for the Italian students will have the Italian students visiting our school and have a tour around. I remember last year a 14-year-old Italian boy came to visit my school in Vicenza and he first came in Language Art class. I never knew his name, but he had golden curly hair, wore a long sleeved blue collar shirt, black pants, and light brown eyes. He was so cute when I saw him!! I was nervous to greet him or be friends with him because I was afraid he wouldn't reply back to me or thought I was a weirdo. After that was math class. We had an Italian girl visiting; I was also nervous talking to her because of the same reason. She was in my group and I hardly looked or talked to her. At the month of May, we had another Italian boy (we'll call him Boy 2) visiting in our humanity class. He was also cute. In humanity class last year, many students were misbehaving and showed no respect to the teacher. I was considered bashful, well-behaved, and very respectal last year. The class, along with the Italian boy, was watching a film Hamlet, and many students were misbehaving and talking during the movie. The Italian boy wasn't next to me--- he instead was sitting with a bunch of girls who were talking and always giggling. For the third time, I couldn't bring myself to talk to Boy#2 because I was afraid he'll think American girls are weird. It's like whenever I see them at lunch, library, P.E., or whatever, I'll always avoid them. I do speak Italian very fluently and I'm still learning. I want to interact with them because I've always want to have foreign friends. The only Italian people I've met that are not teenagers are two women who are my neighbors and a lady who works at a small giro store that my dad and I always go. Please no rude or stupid answers, grazie molte. Yeaahhhh, Dadaw Dadaw. Like that'll take interest for them. :\

I think that if you think that your a good at speaking italian then you should try talking to him in italian, that way like the two of you can start a conversation and he might be amazed. lol By the way you should just be confident and talk to him don't wait for him to talk to you, because as long as those other girls are clinging to him hes not going to be able to get his mind strait, and he might enjoy talking with you!:) Best of luck:)

What to wear in Italy for a teenager

What to wear in Italy for a teenager?
What kind of clothing is normal for a high school girl to wear in the general Italy, like is jeans and t-shirts okay, or something more sophisticated? Also, is body image at the utmost importance? And do most schools require uniforms, and if you don't speak Italian that well, and you're american, will it be like social suicide?? Basically, is Italy accepting?

Well I'm Italian and i can say....yes, jeans and t-shirts are ok but we are also in love with labels. For an average Italian teen it is important to follow fashion. We have some clothes and shoes that are a "must". Not many schools require uniforms, you can wear what you want (of course you can't wear a shoooooooort skirt or tops). Not speaking well italian isn't a problem at all. Personally I love Americans that speak italian :)

How do i find out an address on google earth

How do i find out an address on google earth?
ok here's the story. I got a pen pal from italy in school. I typed his address in on google earth and found his house. I marked it with a pin and now i have lost his address. I have where he lives on google earth but i was wondering if you could find out the address. Thanks :-)
Google - 1 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Just get directions from somewhere to that pin, called a placemark. To do this, click the "Directions" tab on the sidebar, then in the "From" box, type any location (for example, Rome). Then go to your friend's placemark and right-click it, and then click "Directions to here". When the directions appear, go to the last part of the list of instructions and look at the street name and remember it. You can now close the directions. Go to the sidebar's "Fly to" tab, and type in, "(street name), (city), Italy". Fly to that street, and then type a number before the street name. Keep guessing numbers until it matches with your placemark. The number and the street name should together make your pen pal's approximate address. I hope this helps.

I'm looking at colleges/universities in Italy or Rome and some advice would be helpful?
I'm going to either France or Italy for school, and I've heard of schools where you don't have to know the language right away because they'll put you in a language immersion class for the first semester or two. The tuition was also very low, only about 1500 Euros a semester. Does anyone know of schools like this? I don't want to go there through a study abroad program at an American University because it's so much more expensive than just going straight to one of their schools, and I plan on moving there permanently. Any help or advice would be great!
Studying Abroad - 1 Answers

Make sure that, if you are looking at tuition fees, you're looking at the fees for a non-EU foreign student. It's cheaper to go to uni within the EU if you're from the EU. It's more expensive if you're from the US, so make sure you're looking at the right info. Keep in mind that any financial aid you might qualify for if you go to uni in the US, you will not qualify for if you go overseas. Now, some EU unis do offer some financial support to international students, so you should ask about that. But generally, if you're not fully immersed in a program that's taught in the local language - if you don't speak the language fluently, and thus must go through one of their "teach you to speak French" language programs, no aid will be available for that. Know that in some countries, the uni system is free of tuition, so long as you are fluent in the local language - you study in the local language. That includes most Scandinavian countries. Sweden, Iceland, etc. If that's of interest. Keep in mind living costs as well.

Italy age limits.

Italy age limits...?
I'm going to italy with school and by the time we leave I will be 16. I was wondering what the drinking age limits were in italy for bars and small shops. Also I want to get a tattoo while im over there I was wondering the age limit and if I need permission would a signed sheet do. Some areas I'll be in are serento and Pompeii. Dunno all the places. If you know any places that are good places. Leave them ina comment.

As 16 you can drink alcohols and buy cigarettes legally. You can also get the tatoos you want without any permission :-)
2 :
In Italy there isn't a drinking age, but you can be served alcoholic drinks in public places only if you're at least16; in some places, local administrations set some stricter rules, generally saying you have to be 16 in order to buy alcoholic drinks, as well (in a couple of place it seems the limit for buying strong liquor is 18), and you can't drink in public places if you're below 16 (like in Milan); about tattoos, if you're below 18 you need your your parents permit. Anyway, be careful not to get drunk, if you don't want to be identified as American or English...
3 :
Inside bars you can go at any age, for order drink you have to be 16. Tattoo you have to be 18.
4 :
The drinking age limit is 16, so you can legally buy alcoholic drinks at least in supermarkets. The legal age for tattoos is 18, but you can get a tattoo with the permission of your parents... but I think your parents should be there, so I don't think you can get it.

What are the best chef pants

What are the best chef pants?
My boyfriend is in culinary school in Italy through October & I'm putting together a care package to send him. He asked me to get him "black mesh pants" for while he's in the kitchen. They're in the kitchen for 10 hours a day & the pants he has are way too hot. I'm wondering if there are any chefs that could suggest anything? The only requirements is that they need to be solid black - if there's a logo it needs to be by the waistband so it can be covered by the apron. Thanks in advance!

I have a nice pair of light track suit pants that I think would be suitable in those circumstances. They feel sort of silky, but I know they aren't silk. I think you might find something like that in a sports store.
2 :
Hi, Heather! Whew! Italy is HOT in the summer! It has to be even worse in the kitchen. I've been all over the web for you, and I haven't seen any black mesh pants except in activewear, and they had an Adidas logo on the legs and were skin tight. Not very good for a chef.. Besides, mesh would be see-through, which wouldn't go over very well with your boyfriend's boss. There are black chef pants, and there are lightweight black chef pants. Below are some locations where you'll find the black pants, and I marked the ones which claim to be lightweight. Cotton/polyester is nice because it usually doesn't have to be ironed, but it doesn't breathe very well. (The air doesn't get through it well). Cotton does breathe, if you can only find it in lightweight. A "holiday town" doesn't mean a resort for rich spoilt Americans. Sorrento is a town like a lot of other, so the least you can expect is finding schools. By the way, lower school is free and compulsory in Italy since 1860, when in the USA slavery was still legal.

I want to get my MBA studying in Italy. What are some schools to look at?
I'm 22 and from the U.S. What paperwork would I need to make this happen? I already know about St. John's in Rome. I've already spent a semester studying in Florence during my junior year and it was the best five months of my life. Currently I'm working in NY. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Ah, ignorance is grand bamski. Your sense of patriotism and closeminded mentality are sad though. Even the small number of italian institutions that offer MBAs are partnered with American institutions. Many ex-pats even teach fulltime at these institutions. I prefer the lifestyle so I want to study there. Think before you speak and might I suggest a different forum to express your attempts to make yourself feel better.

Since you mentioned on your question you want to go somewhere they speak Spanish, and that you only want a short term stay, I would like to share with you my experience, that meets both your requirements, and how to find out more about this incredibly amazing program. I participated in a fabulous program, called HomeStay Spain in SPAIN. After speaking with other kids in the group who had participated in other exchange programs abroad we decided this was the best! If you are interested in a lifestyle immersion experience and willing to learn about Spanish Culture and Lifestyle, this is the most amazing program available. The beautiful and safe town of Santander is known for its cultural refinement, and an atmosphere typical of old Spain. It is so much fun!!! And we learned so much!!!! It was so enriching. I LOVED IT!!! Both my sister and I participated different summers and we had a blast! We made so many good friends we still keep in touch with! The program is really well planned out and people are lovely! Many host families have teens. They even allow you to come with a friend to stay in same host family home or in a different home. And if you sign up early they allow you to choose from the available host families for a perfect fit. Check their website www.beautifulspain.com Before deciding among different programs I had a chance to speak with some contacts that had participated in this program and my parents did as well. Everyone spoke wonders about this program, the host families and the local director Nuria, who is such a nice lady,... She is usually in Florida at this time of the year, so that means that you may be able to talk to her on the phone once you contact them through their web site. This program is considered the most complete exposure to a foreign country because as they say it is true that it combines CLASSES (art, debate, street talk, folklore, DANCING classes, among others) with FUN and EXCITING ACTIVITIES such as Latin Dance Classes, Bullfight, Boat Excursion, etc…, FULL DAY OUTINGS to places of historical and cultural interest such as prehistoric Altamira Caves, Guggenheim Museum, Roman Ruins, "Capricho de Gaudi", Roman Route Hiking adventure, etc... are also ALL INCLUDED IN THE PRICE while living with a local, loving and carefully selected HOST FAMILY. I know this program allows you to choose from several host families (the type of things this program does, no other program would ever) in order for everyone to be happy.

How can I find a host family in Italy

How can I find a host family in Italy?
I want to find a host family from September 12, 2008 to November 29, 2008 in Bologna, Italy. Many language schools offer this as an added service, but I want to arrange my stay independently. As a 23 year old native English speaker, I have a lot to offer a potential host family. However, I have not found any websites on which Italian families post "exchange student WANTED" ads. Thank you.

Generally, you go with the families who are signed up with the program. That's how the connections are made, not through anonymous ads. Just think about it. Single, 21 - 23 year old woman, trusting, looking for a place to live. Single, 70 year old man puts an ad in the paper saying he's a family, she shows up on his doorstep...just a hypothetical situation, but, far too easy to abuse that way. With a program, there are (you hope) trustworthy people to set things up, make sure you are happy and comfortable, not being abused in any way (okay, doesn't have to be that ominous, the family might expect you to take care of their children for free, leaving you with no time to have fun or travel, etc.) make sure you have the things you need, and all. They screen the families, and you know what you are getting yourself into. Families are not allowed to take advantage of you, etc. I don't think you're going to find a trustworthy family in the newspaper or on line.

I have never been fortunate enough as yet to travel to Italy, though I have lived in three countries in my lifetime. I have a friend in Finland that travels often and he has said many things positive about Italy. I have only seen the country in documentaries and such, and it really does look such a glorious place, full of atmosphere and history. What an opportunity you have. Live the experience to the full. I have met quite a few Italians. You'll love the people, I'm sure, and the food is fantastic. I wish I were going with you.

Will my cat remember me if I leave for a year

Will my cat remember me if I leave for a year?
I'm going to study abroad in Italy next school year for about ten months, and I'm scared that my cat is going to forget me when I come home. I know it's stupid, but I've had her for fourteen years. Again, this will sound stupid, but we're really attached, and I don't want her to not remember me when I return.

nope! they usually forget fast!
2 :
Of course she will. I was away from my cat from a year and when I came back, it was like I was never gone. If you've had her for that long, your scent and such are embedded in her mind. She is not going to forget you.
3 :
after that long, and if you're really close then of course she wont! she will probably be waiting for you to come home!! i bet when you get back she will run to you :) x
4 :
She will remember you, not to fret. My cat Winston (who is skittish around strangers) hadn't seen my niece in 5-1/2 years. When she came to visit, he jumped on her lap, started purring and rubbing her, proceeded to fill her in on the haps for the past five years, then exhausted, curled up on her lap, and happily went to sleep. She will remember you and be thrilled to see you when you get home.
5 :
your her mummy - she loves you - she will remember you!!!
6 :
She'll remember you, unless she's a kitten. Kittens have shorter memory. She'll have to sniff you first of course:)
7 :
Yes, she will remember you. I had my cat since he was 4 weeks old and took care of him for 1 1/2 years. I then had to move in with my sick grandparents and I sent my cat to live with my parents for a while because I didn't think he would like my Grandmas dog too much. Anyways, whenever I came to visit (every few months) he was so excited to see me, and when I came back to take him home a year later, he was so happy. The second he walked in his new home he purred really loud and was very affectionate, which he usually is not!
8 :
Your cat might not remember you when she SEES you again, but she'll absolutely remember you when she SMELLS you again. I read in a book about cats that they have amazing memories for scent and can remember people, other animals and places for years, based on scent. P.S. Good luck on your studies abroad. I did the same thing in my college years and it was the best experience!

I studied through Intrax (intraxstudyabroad.com) and I didn't know a bit of Japanese but I studied in Japan through their program and they taught me Japanese and I learned so much that I was able to get around Japan by myself! It is an amazing program. So you don't necessarily have to learn the langauge before hand with some programs. And learning it while you are in the country is much better than learning it from a book, so try doing a program that will teach you the language while you're there!

a novel where a girl from america who writes letter from juliet and falls in love with italian boy

a novel where a girl from america who writes letter from juliet and falls in love with italian boy?
I know this sounds like the new movie that just came out, Letters to Juliet. But the book I'm looking for is about a teenager from america goes over to Italy for school. While they were there one of their projects was to answer the letters that people left. She ends up falling for an italian boy who is a known ladies man. That is all I remember so does anyone know this book?

The Juliet Club by Suzanne Harper (There really is a Juliet Club and they have a website: http://www.julietclub.com/en/club.asp) The Juliet Club is about six teenagers spending a month in Verona, Italy, the city where Shakespeare’s famous Romeo and Juliet takes place. The three Americans are winners of an essay contest whose prize is to study at the Shakespeare Seminar, and the Italians are there for various reasons. Kate, Tom, and Lucy have flown halfway around the world (not together, as they are from different parts of the country) and are excited for a summer in Italy! Kate’s father is a noted Shakespeare scholar teaching at the seminar, and they’re all staying in a villa owned by his chief rival, Francesca Marchese. Kate is suffering from a broken heart after a bitter breakup, and, as she is a very practical and sensible person, thinks that means love is not worthwhile.

Should I pay $2700 to go on a trip with my school to europe, If i'm moving there this summer?
So I really want to take a trip to Spain, Italy, & Greece with my school later in the year. It will cost $2700 for 12 days. I'm moving to Germany this summer though, & i'd have the opportunity to see Europe anyway. So should I go with my school in april if i'm already going to move near there this summer?

so long as it's your money, i say do whatever you want to do with it. you might actually learn something about the area which could help you when you finally move there.
2 :
save your $2700 for your life in Germany. you can visit Spain, Italy, & Greece from Germany with cheap flights within europe.
3 :
Gosh, I just love the way you all seem to think that Europe is tiny ... Europe is about the same size as the continental United States. Germany is much further north than Spain, Italy and Greece. You're talking about 4 very different countries - yes, COUNTRIES - there. Spend the money, tightwad. You'll be glad of the experience.
4 :
Not something I would do. You can wait and save money in your pocket for later, you know? (: But you should do what you want, and I wish you the BEST of luck in Germany! Best wishes.
5 :
Me personally i would wait if i was going to move in a few months anyway but you dowhat you feel is best for you. Whatever you decide i wish you the best.
6 :
I mean, I wouldn't. Its just kinda a waste, you know? But if it's really important to you, go for it.

My favourite cities in Italy are two. First Rome, that is my city and it's full of beautiful places. If you have to came in Italy with your school I think it's the best. Second city it's Florence. It is not so big as Rome, but you'll feel art in the air everywhere you go. Also Venice is very beautiful, of course, but it's one of the most expencive in Italy! Where in Italy is it good to move to

Where in Italy is it good to move to?
I am an American girl, who is high school might move to Italy with my family. Where is a good place to learn the language, get a reasonably good job (for my parents), and is easy, or not difficult, to fit in? Specifically Venice, Volterra, Florence, Rome, Milan, or Vienna. BTW, don't have to be THAT specific, though appriciated...

Vienna is not part of Italy.... It's Austrian. In Italy, generally speaking, the North is richer but more expensive then the South. Generally speaking, places such as Naples, are hotbeds of crime (Mafia) and are quite poor compared to the North. The richest city (in size and per capita) would probably be Milan, however it is not suprisingly more expensive. However, it is much cheaper then say Venice. Rome is in the middle of Italy, and doesn't have too many special things, it isn't really too crime-ridden or poor, but it is very crowded. Also, in most of Italy, homes tend to be small and cars small too. By good jobs, it depends on what your looking for, and what they are qualified in. If it has to do with finance, Italy is not a good place at all, Italy doesn't even have a stock index that is regularly mentioned. I personally like the Alps, near Austria or Switzerland, but those are more for people who don't need to work.
2 :
Nowhere maybe in vienna...just because is not Italy
3 :
Neither you, nor your family, can just decide to move to another country. It's necessary to have a job offer first, in which case the employer may help relocate the family, or the family needs to migrate. To get a job your parents will need to have skills that are not available from within the Italian workforce or with workers from another country. So, unless your parents have Italian passports or passports from another EU country, and speak fluent Italian, it will be impossible for them to get jobs in Italy. Even if they were eligible to apply for long-term visas they need to show that they can provide financial and health support for the entire family without working, or seeking help from the Italian government. You might want to check out visa conditions before going any further. The Italian Embassy website has links to Italian Consulates which detail the different visas: http://www.ambwashingtondc.esteri.it/ambasciata_washington Not sure where you got your list of places in Italy. How did you pick Volterra, it's a very small town. Do you even know where it is? And Vienna is the capital of Austria, not a city in Italy.
4 :
To make friends, smaller, less touristy places are better. But they have less jobs of course. It's probably best to search international jobs sites, or US companies that have bases in Italy to see what the work options would be, then look at the places those jobs are in (most likely Milan or Rome).
5 :
Ehi i am italian...A good place to have a good job and learn italian it's the north of italy. You can move to Florence or Milan or in the capital Rome Vienna it's not in italy, perhaps you would tell Venezia.

I’m sorry but there “aint” too many options for an English speaking student. If you don’t speak Italian, you will have to study at one of the few private universities in Italy. Bocconi in Milan only offers business classes. However, many American universities have campuses in Italy where classes are held for credit in American universities. If you just want to study Italian, there are two Italian universities where the language is taught. Those two universities are in Perugia and Siena.

Aviano, Italy. Aviano Air Force Base Elementary School physical street name, or address

Aviano, Italy. Aviano Air Force Base Elementary School physical street name, or address?
I went to Aviano Elementary School in 1980-1983. I was wondering if anyone knew the street name that this elementary school is on. I'm trying to find the school on maps.live.com, but when I look for the address on the web, I get a box number and zip code. I tried typing in the Aviano, Italy 09604, and it the map shows me a section of Aviano that might be the area, but it's been a long time since I was there, and I'm not to sure what the school might look like now. Does anyone know if I am looking at the school at the intersection of Via Ippolito Nievo, and Via Luigi Lonco. If you go to maps.live.com, you'll have to use the "2D, Hybrid" setting, and then zoom in. Their is also a large building in that same area on Via De Zan that might be a school.

Bologna has many international students and the city in many ways revolves around the university. http://www.eng.unibo.it/ Also the Università degli Studi of Milano has a good rep http://www.unimi.it/ENG/ These two have many international students but are more visual arts oriented: IED (Istituto Europeo di Design) they are in Milan, Rome, Turin, Barcelona http://www.ied.it NABA in Milan http://www.naba.it I'd also consider the UK and France. hope this helps:)
